How I Install A U-Part Wig - Protective Style Challenge

As mention in my past post, I'm here share with you guys my first protective style. Since I ended up relaxing my hair on January 1st I decided, to wait a week before doing a complete protective style. So I just bunned the first week of January. Then I made a u-part wig using hair that I brought from aliexpress, which turned out to be a mess. It only lasted a week a 2 days before the back started to matt and tangle so bad. So I took it down and turn to my curly wig. The plan is to wear this wig for the next 3 weeks I've had it in for about a week now. As I'm waiting for some hair that I purchase from Hair Karma (They have extremely long processing and shipping) but I was able to get a good deal  200 dollars for 3 bundles of brazilian wavy 12, 14, 16. Anyways I filmed a video showing how I install my u-parts I hope you enjoy this video.

First Impression: Proclaim Argan Oil Intense Hydrating Masque

I'm here with a product review, its been so long sense I posted a product review, honestly it because I have not been trying much products. The other day I was in Sally's Beauty Supply Store picking up a relaxer kit when I ran across this product. I figure what the heck, I'm out of moisturizing deep conditioners anyways, so I grab it.

Purchase: sallybeauty.com
Cost: On Sale for $6.00

For only using this product one time so far, I have to say I'm in love. I love the thickness and creamy consistency of the product, the cost of the product, the size for the cost, and the fact that its in a jar for easy access. I applied this product on damp hair, for about an 1 1/2. It left my hair feeling soft, moisturized, plus it gave my hair a lot of slip for detangling. Even though I have to admit though that I'm only a few days post relaxer so detangling is not that big of a deal right now. After rinsing the product out of my hair, my hair honestly felt as though I did not have to apply a leave-in to my hair, or moisturize or seal my hair. It was extra light weight in my hair, which lets me know it will be a good product to use when I feel like flat iron my hair because it will give me a good deep condition but not weigh my hair down. I'm excited to continuing using this product especially when I get far into my relaxer stretches. I really want to see how well this product works with my new growth.

A final review will be posted when I have finish using this product. Tell then let me know if you tried this product and if it work well for you.

Relaxer Update #1 - 2014

Hello and Welcome to 2014. I decided to spend my 1st day of the year giving myself a touch up. I figured the best way to keep track of when I relaxed is to relaxed on the first day of the year. How easy is that to remember. 2014 I plan on only relaxing my hair 3 times this year. Hence the number in the post. As far as relaxer goes, I went back to box relaxer this relaxer and I think I found a relaxer to keep. I loved this box relaxer by Softsheen Carson, Optimum Salon HairCare, it did not leave my hair with that coating feeling I had been getting on most box relaxers and I didn't get the insane burning feeling that I would get with a lye relaxer. So as of now this is my go to relaxer.

This relaxer I relaxed my hair in 5 sections, instead of  the normally four because I get a lot of overlapping. The whole relaxer process took about 20mins, 15 mins of apply 5 mins of smoothing. I then proceeded to rinse out the relaxer and apply the Aphogee 2 step protein treatment before neutralizing then applied the aphogee again following up with the moisturizer, then deep condition with Proclaim Argan oil hair, mask. Then I just rinsed out and let my hair air dry and through it into a bun.

Top 3 Hair Recap of 2013

With the last day of 2013 coming to a close I thought It was only apporiate to share all of my hair lesson and experience that I went throughout the year. 2013 was a big hair year for me, because I finally started to see growth in length with my hair.

1.) As I mention before, 2013 was the year of hair growth for me. Towards the end of 2012 I was really feeling discourage about this whole hair journey thing, and was it even working or was I just wasting money. Until I look at hair pictures in Jan till Dec.

2.) I experience my first major setback in 2013, thinning ends. Instead of chopping it off all at once, I decided to take about 1/2 off bi monthly. It worked and now I'm official over my thinning ends. But now I'm starting to experience breakage at the crown of my head...sigh.

Check out this video to show recovered & what products helped me.

3.) Protective Styling was my BFF towards the 3 months of the year. So much my BFF that I going on a 6 month protective style challenge (post will be up soon). I wore Senegelese twist for 7 weeks and my hair retained so much length. I was going to start of 2014 with box braids...but when I put them in I was experience the worse head sore that I took them down & figure it be best to relaxed first and then go from there.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy new year.!!!! See you in 2014
